St. Francis, located on the SE corner of Central & Camelback is a modern yet comfortable family-owned restaurant serving wood-fired cuisine with an emphasis on quality, seasonal ingredients delivered daily from local farmers. Summer at St. Francis brings a menu featuring the season's brightest and tastiest veggies in dishes that are light yet rich with flavor.
Some favorites, from a recent tasting, include:
Carrot Ginger Soup – A savory soup made from roasted local carrots and fresh ginger swirled with crème fraiche.
Fire Roasted Eggplant Dip – Pureed, fire-roasted local eggplant layered with yogurt, for a cool and creamy dip served with delicious house-made bread.
Roasted Carrot & Avocado Salad– Local carrots are oven-roasted, seared and tossed with sliced avocado, a California goat cheese, and mixed greens all drizzled with a tangy/sweet orange poppy seed vinaigrette.
Wood Roasted Summer Squash – A variety of colorful, oven-roasted baby squash topped with roasted red pepper romesco sauce, California goat cheese and toasted almonds.
Heirloom Tomatoes & Burrata – Local tomatoes, cucumbers and shaved red onion atop California burrata cheese, crostini, and drizzled with red wine vinaigrette. Admittedly my favorite dish.
Pan Seared Rainbow Trout – Delicious trout served with purple sweet potato mash and green beans in a browned butter lemon caper sauce.
Though not new to the menu, if you have room for dessert the Sticky Toffee Pudding served with sweet cream gelato is a must.
