Hotel Palomar Phoenix & Blue Hound Kitchen; A Get Away In The City

Most people come to Arizona to get away from city life. They head to one of the many fancy resorts here in town and immerse themselves in tranquility.  There are a few, myself included, that like the hustle and bustle of the city and want to be part of the "downtown" atmosphere. A great place to experience that in Phoenix is the Hotel Palomar.

Surrounded by restaurants, within walking distance of the ball park, and close to theaters and other entertainment venues the Palomar is the perfect location to experience what downtown Phoenix has to offer.

Modern contemporary is the look; welcoming and comfortable is the feel. Suites are spacious and feature large tubs; something you don't see in most hotels.

Hosted wine hours take place daily in what is known as the living room.  This is the perfect time to relax, unwind and socialize before getting on with your evening.

And if dinner is where you're headed...you can just meander on over to the adjacent Blue Hound restaurant. A gastrolounge concept, pairing food with cocktails; the Blue Hound takes a creative approach with it's mostly sharable menu.

Things like citrus marinated olives, deviled eggs with smoked ham and a cheese plate are on the menu. There's also several unique salads like the heirloom tomato & strawberry salad with feta and pistachios.

As an entree you can order super tender bone in pork belly with the most amazing carrot raisin slaw. Or citrus brined half chciken with potato leek gratin.  If your feeling adventurous let the chef know and he will create something unique for you with the fish of the day.

Be sure to save room for dessert because the ice cream topped pineapple upside down cake should not be missed.

The third floor outdoor pool is small but but includes a nice sized bar/lounge area that serves food and drinks until midnight.  See and be seen is the idea behind this outdoor oasis.  *Note: if you are in a room directly above the pool area expect to hear music on the weekends.*

And if all this isn't enough to make you feel like a city dweller be sure to take advantage of the Palomar's free bikes and head out for a downtown adventure of your own.

Whether you’re a visitor from out of state or a local planning a staycation;  if you’re looking for something that’s just a bit different I would suggest checking into the Palomar Hotel in downtown Phoenix.
