The Parlor Unveils Delicious New Fall Menu

By: The Food Hunter

The Parlor is not your typical Italian eatery, and that's exactly what I love about it. At the Parlor you can enjoy not only handmade pastas and delicious wood-fired pizzas but also something like this amazing albacore tuna salad; a delicious combination of arugula, butter lettuce, crispy fingerling potato, gastrique onion, and green beans tossed in a chile vinaigrette and sitting on a smoked bean puree.

Located in the heart of Camelback Corridor, The Parlor occupies what was once the Salon de Venus. In 2007 the Mei family took over the space and re-purposed the historic salon into what is now The Parlor. This rustic Italian restaurant is popular among locals who are seeking a menu that reflects the best seasonal ingredients in both food and craft cocktails. The Parlor recently revamped their menu to incorporate more fall items, over a dozen new and unique dishes & cocktails have been added, promising something delicious for every palate.

I recently had a chance to sample some of the new fall menu items. A popular item on the menu was the oxtail ravioli and after one bite I could understand why. My plate included four generously sized fresh made ravioli stuffed with succulent oxtail which are served on top of a cauliflower puree and dressed in a light mushroom ragu.

Lighter, yet equally as delicious, were the red beet Agnolotti filled with chard & roasted parsnip and topped with micro-greens dressed in a fig vinaigrette.

The mussels and Spanish chorizo were served in a smoked tomato broth with house-made bread to soak up the liquid.

If you are a fan of Brussels Sprouts you will no doubt want to try them at The Parlor. Flaked with crispy soppressata, caramelized onion, parmesan, and chile pepper, they are an addicting spicy treat.

Last but not least the fig crostata on the menu is worth the calorie splurge. Complete with ricotta, hazelnut streusel, chevre gelato and orange coulis, this is a not to miss dessert.

Whether your in the mood for homemade pasta, wood-fired pizza or locally inspired craft cocktails, The Parlor has you covered. So the next time you find yourself in Central Phoenix may I suggest you don't leave before enjoying a meal at this quaint restaurant.
