Rusconi's Samoan Decadence & A Giveaway

By: The Food Hunter

For the second year in a row several valley restaurants will be participating in the "Girl Scout Cookie Dessert Challenge". Chefs from some of the state’s most popular restaurants will use their culinary prowess to re-imagine one of the beloved flavors of Girl Scout cookies, Do-Si-Dos, Samoas Tagalongs, Thin Mints, Trefoils, and the new Rah Rah Raisins, into a custom dessert menu item.

Desserts will be featured on restaurant menus from February 1 to February 28, 2015, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the transformation of the local Girl Scouts Council’s Camp Sombrero to a Leadership Center for Girls and Women.

Chef Michael Rusconi of Rusconi's American Grill in Phoenix put together the following dessert using the famous Samoa Cookies. When asked why he chose Samoas to work with Chef responded: “clearly Samoas are the very BEST Girl Scout Cookie.”

Locals be sure to stop into Rusconi's and try this yummy treat. Need extra incentive? We are giving one lucky reader a chance to win a $25 gift card to Rusconi's American Grill. ***Enter Below*** For those not in Arizona Chef Rusconi shared his recipe below.

  15. Who doesn't love Girl Scout Cookies? The samoas would be a great base for the custard in this dessert. The red sugar garnish is beautiful!
