Welcome To My Blog Tour

By: The Food Hunter

My push to start a food blog, and I'll admit I needed one, came from an old friend, who believed in me and what I had to say, and suggested I find an outlet. This of course was probably his way of telling me he was sick of hearing me complain. Either way it worked, The Food Hunter's Guide was started in 2007 and has continued to develop and thrive. It's interesting to look back at some of my earlier posts, which didn't include recipes or photos, and see just how far it's come. Blogging not only gave me an outlet but also allowed me to develop my culinary skills and meet some wonderful people, a few of which I will introduce you to today.

Cheers to Amanda at The Kitcheneer for asking me to participate in this fabulous blog tour. A health nut like myself Amanda shares healthy recipes and weekly workouts on her blog. Kudos to you Amanda on your quest to make people understand there is no excuse not to eat healthy.

Blog tour questions:

1. What am I currently working on?

There is always something going on when you write a food blog; whether it be creating recipes, reviewing restaurants or working with new products. But there are two things in particular that I'm really excited about. The first is a video tutorial series I hope to have out by the end of the year. The second is the launch of a beverage tab on the blog, which will include drink recipes, mixologist spotlights and product reviews.

2. How does my work differ from others of its genre?

Though the common bond is food; what sets me apart is my healthy approach to recipes which focus primarily on homemade, non-processed foods.

3. Why do I write what I do?

I enjoy motivating people to eat healthier both in and out of the kitchen. My recipes and dining choices are inspired by my love for home cooked foods and I hope I can instill this in my readers.

4. How does my writing process work?

My husband and I cook at home on a daily basis and rarely make the same thing twice, so there is always a story in the works. Photos are taken before practically every meal and the decision to write about it comes only after it's been eaten and enjoyed. Call me old fashion but I still do most of my writing and corrections on paper.

Featured Bloggers

Sherri Jo of Adventures of Kitchen Girl is one of the first bloggers I remember following when I started on my blogging adventure. In a way you can say we "grew up together" or at least our blogs did. I love her personal approach to blogging; sharing recipes and family stories. With posts for Magic Cookie Bars and Roasted Pork loin with Mushrooms & Cognac Cream it's easy to see why I continued to follow her over the years.

I've only really gotten to know Taryn of Phoenix Bites in the past year but it feels like I've known her forever. Taryn is down to earth and truly loves introducing her readers to all the culinary gems here in Phoenix. If you're not a part of the Phoenix food scene, you'll wish you were after reading Taryn's posts. Did someone say bacon?

I've been a fan of  The Hungry Goddess for some time now. It's hard not to be drawn to Kimberly's tantalizing recipes and food stories. Her motto is "Taste Everything" and when I'm on her site that's exactly what I want to do! Take for example her Roasted Potato Salad with Prosciutto and Lemon Caper Dressing....don't you want to stick a fork right in it.

So there you have it....the inside scoop about me and some of my favorite blogs! Thanks for taking this tour and please continue to follow along; who knows where it will lead. Your next favorite blog is just a tour away!
